It is the first single from his 2005 album ''The Rising Tied'', released on October 3, 2005. == Background == "Petrified" was considered the first official debut single from ''The Rising Tied'', despite "Remember the Name" being leaked first onto the Internet on August 20, 2005, and gaining momentum on radio and promotional material. "Remember the Name" was planned to be the first single from ''The Rising Tied'' but this was changed just before the album came onto the shelves. Eventually, "Petrified" and "Remember the Name" were released together on October 5, 2005. Prior to the release of ''The Rising Tied'', "Petrified" had been featured on the pre-released mixtape "We Major", along with a remix of the song titled "Petrified (Doors Remix)". Another remix, realized by Shinoda and entitled "Petrified (Los Angeles Remix)", is featured on the Tour Edition of the album. "Remember the Name" features strings conducted by David Campbell. Since Shinoda performed the main string loop on the keyboards, the cellists had a difficult time performing the loop.
